Credentials
Dr. Carolyn G. Conroy has been practicing in North Carolina since 1997. She holds the Health Services Provider in Psychology license. She is also fully certified in EMDR. In addition to maintaining private practice offices in Hendersonville and Brevard, Dr. Conroy serves as consulting psychologist at two facilities in Brevard, North Carolina: The Transylvania Community Hospital, and College Walk, a retirement community. She is also a consulting psychologist at Beverly Healthcare, in Hendersonville.
Before relocating to North Carolina, Dr. Conroy spent ten years as a supervising psychologist and Director of Education at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, New York, for ten years, where she trained other mental health professionals. She also held psychologist positions at Utica/Marcy Psychiatric Center, Utica, New York, and at Conifer Park, a substance abuse facility in Scotia, New York. She also maintained private practices in Albany, Troy, and Amsterdam, New York.
An Atlanta native, Dr. Conroy graduated from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She earned her master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University and she was awarded the doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 1984 from the State University of New York at Albany. She completed her doctoral internship at Rensselaer County Mental Health in Troy, New York. Dr. Conroy is also completing coursework through the College of Executive Coaching that will lead to being certified as a personal and executive coach.
Dr. Conroy’s professional affiliations include the following: American Psychological Association; the North Carolina Psychological Association; and the Western North Carolina Psychological Association. She also belongs to the Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA).
